George (my dad) was born in sunderland in 1939. A lovely man who was devoted to his wife Pat,his 4
children,Tony, Ann, Haley and me Lynsey. His 4 grandchildren, Lewi, Georgia, Carly and Kristie.
He loved his garden and every day he would be out there tending to his plants. Many people past
comment on how lovely it was. One lady even told us that she often used to take a different route
home just to take a look.
He was a perfect dad in every way. Strict at times but we realise now that we are older that it was
for our own good. I sometimes find myself repeating his words to my daughter Georgia.
Dad worked hard all his life to provide the best for his familly and made sure we had hollidays and
day trips out. Dad was also an avid George Formby fan and was a member of the George Formby socitey.
He taught himself how to play the uke and day in day out he would drive us all mad playing it. Wish
i could hear him now. I have him playing on dvd but its just not the same although its lovely to
watch.
On Dec.13th 2005 my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. WHY? was the question on all our minds.
But dad never complained. His time was up and that was that. He had chemo which for all of you who
have gone through it will know its not an easy time. They told us he could have the chemo but it
wouldnt save him, it would just prolong his life. But again, never once did dad complain.
He sadly passed away on dec 16th 2006 at the age of 67. A day i will never forget. The saddest day
of my life. 3.15pm. That was the time my dad was taken from us. His short breaths were getting
weaker and weaker and i just knew it was time for my dad to leave this world. So i gently kissed him
goodby and then he left us for a better place where he is free from all the pain.
Me and my mam were sitting 1 day in the front room and we swear we could hear a uke being played.
It was very faint but we like to think that it was him just letting us know hes there with us still.
Dads garden is empty now because none ov us have green fingers like he did, although mam is doing
her best. But unlike the flowers he tendered, he is a bloom that will never fade away. He will live
on in our hearts forever.
LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO MUCH DAD.
TILL WE ALL MEET AGAIN IN HEAVEN.
MAY WE ALWAYS HAVE AN ANGEL BY OUR SIDE
